Couch to 5k Program

Program Description

Ormeau Runners couch to 5k is brought to you by Ormeau Runners Running Club, your local community focused social and recreational running club based in South/East Belfast. The program is Free from any charge and delivered on a totally Voluntary and not for profit basis by Ormeau Runners. Forestside shopping centre have partnered with Ormeau Runners and will support the program and participates by giving every participants who completes the program their very own Couch to 5k Graduation Running T-Shirt, while also covering facility hire costs for the program. Our 9 week Couch to 5k program will be based and delivered in South and East Belfast. The aim is to coach and support total beginners from the Couch, to jogging a 5k in 9 weeks.

Please note that all participants must be at least 12 years old. Any participants aged under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible designated adult at all times.  

Program Information

 

There will be 2 coached running & fitness sessions per week for 9 weeks.

Starting Date: Tuesday 08/01/2019

Graduation 5k Run: Saturday 09/03/2019  

Training Days & Times

Tuesday: 6-7pm – Cregagh Community Centre (Running Drills and Fitness Sessions)

Thursday: 6.30-7.30pm – Ormeau Area (Running Endurance Sessions)

Saturday: 10.30am - After 5 weeks one of the weekly coached sessions will move to a Saturday at 10.30am to prepare and familiarise participates for their Graduation 5k Run.

Coaching and Running Info:

The program will be delivered by our Qualified and Experienced Volunteer Coaching Team of Running Coaches and Assistant Running Coaches and Volunteers from within Ormeau Runners.

The program will be fun and progressive and tailored to meet your needs and fitness levels. The majority of our members have been in your shoes and coached through a couch to 5k program by our Coaches, we understand what it is like to stand in your shoes and take that leap. We know it can be daunting on your first night not knowing what to expect or wither you can keep up or do it, but you will be in good hands and well looked after, and we promise if you stay the 9 weeks you will complete your 5k. The program will be delivered and supported by the local community for the local community.

The program and sessions will be a no pressure, social and fun environment with creative and fun running and fitness sessions to help you to a fitter and healthier you in 2019. Our coaching team have years of experience of coaching Couch to 5k programs with in the local area and community and have successfully coached and supported hundreds of local people to completing their first 5k runs and beyond.

Ormeau Runners can also offer a pathway into continuing running post program should you wish, from joining us at our weekly coached club sessions or social runs or our free coached 5k to 10k program Starting in April 2019.

All Ormeau Runners community running programs are free from charge as they are delivered purely by Volunteers from within the Ormeau Runners club on a not for profit or non-remuneration basis.

Registration Information:

Program is free from any charge and registrations will be completed via our online Event Brite registration system. Only individuals and participants who successfully register via our online registration system will secure and be offered a place on the program. All successful registrants will receive a registration confirmation email once registered. Responsibility sits with the participant to ensure they have registered properly.

Places are limited, and we ask those who register to please ensure that you intend to attend and participate in the program. Should you register and no longer wish to attend the program we would ask that you cancel your registration so that another person can avail of the opportunity to attend and participate in the program.

Once registered participants will receive further program information via email closer to the time, which will provide full program information including logistics and other relevant information.

Terms and Conditions

Declaration of Medical Fitness: 

It is the responsibility of each individual who registers and participates in the Ormeau Runners Couch to 5k program to ensure they are fit and healthy to do so. By registering for the Ormeau Runners Couch to 5k program you are declaring that you are medically fit to participate in running and moderate to high intensity physical activity. Should it be necessary, responsibility sits with the Individual to seek medical advice and clearance from a medical professional before registering and participating in the program.

 

Registration Information and GDPR:

In line with GDPR rules and regulations, Ormeau Runners will securely hold participant information for registration, program administrative, and insurance purposes ONLY. No personal information will be forwarded to any 3rd party organisations without the consent of the individual. At any time should any person wish to have their personal information removed, please inform Ormeau Runners in writing to OrmeauCouch25k@hotmail.com

 

By registering for the program you agree that you have read and understand this statement on personal information and GDPR and agree for Ormeau Runners to hold your personal information for the reasons outlined.

 

Waiver and Indemnity Agreement:

In registering for the program, The individual registering accepts full and complete responsibility for any injury or accident which may occur while travelling to or from the program/event, during the program/event, or while on the premises of the program/event. 

I agree to be aware of and assume all risks associated with participating in this program/event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, effect of weather, traffic, and conditions of the road. I, for myself and my heirs and executors, hereby waive, release and forever discharge the event organisers (Ormeau Runners Running Club), sponsors, promoters and each of their agents, representatives, successors and assigns, and all other persons associated with the program/event, for all my liabilities, claims, actions, or damages that I may have against them arising out of or in any way connected with my participation in this program/event. 

I understand that this waiver includes any claims, whether caused by negligence, the action or inaction of any of the above parties, or otherwise.

I give my full permission for photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, website images, recordings or any other record of this program/event be taken by and used by Ormeau Runners for communication or program promotional purposes.
